zohar fianoArgentina’s first certified oenologist is making me happy. This really is a lovely little wine, and it’s a damn shame I’ve only seen it on the shelf at Rootsock. If only I could convince Asado or Gaucho to pop it on their winelists… It’s incredibly good value. Firstly, it’s a chic grape -beautifully boutique, originating in Italy (Sicily), and very trendily plopped in a completely un-traditional region of Mendoza. Secondly, it’s entirely appropriate to most wine drinkers’ tastes: lean and clean, aromatic, and great with food. Thirdly, it’s simply a great quality wine – it’s very well made, balanced, flavoursome and hard to fault.

Deliciously honeyed and mineral on the nose, with streaks of lemon and lime. The palate reveals a little pineapple and herb. Fabulous acid, would go with anything – particularly an afternoon in the sun.
